On May 20, 2026, Michael Wessel pled guilty to one count of
Intimidation of an Attorney, Victim, or Witness in a Criminal Case, a felony
of the third degree; and one count of Aggravated Menacing, a misdemeanor
of the first degree.
In February 2026, Wessel had a pending traffic case in Celina
Municipal Court. After missing a scheduled pretrial, Wessel called the Celina
municipal prosecutor and threatened harm to the prosecutor and his
administrative assistant. Wessel called approximately 92 times and left 9
voicemails, even after Celina Police Department had warned him to stop
calling.
Wessel also made several calls to Celina Police Department dispatch.
In total, Wessel called dispatch 28 times. Several of those calls were made
after Wessel had been warned to stop calling.
As part of his plea, the State dismissed the remaining counts in the
indictment and reserved the right to argue for prison at sentencing. Wessel’s
sentencing will take place on July 8th. He faces up to 36 months in prison for
the felony of the third degree and a $10,000 fine. For the misdemeanor, he
faces 180 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
