February 23, 2026 (Duenas)

On February 20, 2026, Brandal Duenas was sentenced to thirty months in prison. From October 2025 to November 2025, Duenas created several fake Facebook profiles, messaged several young women, and encouraged them to send him explicit images of themselves. When the young women refused, he threatened to distribute the explicit images he previously received from them and sell the images for profit. On January 14, 2026, Duenas pled guilty to sexual extortion, a felony of the third degree.

Prior to the sentencing hearing, the State filed a Sentencing Memorandum with the Court, wherein the State argued for the maximum prison sentence of thirty-six months. The State referenced Duenas’s prior juvenile adjudications for extortion and the severe emotional, psychological, and physical impacts his actions had on one of his victims.
