On March 20, 2026, Dallas E. Fortner pled guilty to Aggravated Assault (a
felony of the fourth degree), Possessing Criminal Tools (a felony of the fifth degree),
and Vehicular Vandalism (a misdemeanor of the first degree) and was sentenced to
twelve (12) months in prison.
The charges arose from an incident that occurred on September 13, 2026 at
Fortner’s residence in Rockford. A male and female pulled up to Fortner’s residence.
While they were outside in the vehicle, Fortner attacked them with a baseball bat,
smashing the passenger side window of the vehicle. This caused shards of glass to
fly into the vehicle, which cut the passenger’s face and hands. Fortner also damaged
the vehicle when he threw his bat at it as the occupants were attempting to drive
away
