On April 22, 2026, Preston Jones was sentenced to fourteen months in prison
for assaulting a police officer. Jones also was sentenced to jail time for misdemeanor
domestic violence and resisting arrest charges. The jail time will run concurrently
to his prison sentence.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on January 4, 2026 at a
residence in Celina. When officers arrived on scene, they made contact with a
female who had visible injuries to her neck and hand. She advised that Jones, who
lived with her, had gotten upset and slapped her in the face and grabbed her by the
throat, making it difficult for her to breathe. When officers went to arrest Jones, he
resisted and used his body weight to shove an officer, who fell and injured his ear.
The officer was later taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries
