On August 26, 2026, Scott E. Froning was sentenced to 180 days in the Mercer
County Jail. Froning’s jail sentence was handed down after he pled guilty to
Possession of LSD, a felony of the fifth degree.
The incident giving rise to the charge occurred on June 20, 2026. Officers
observed Froning in the parking lot of a Celina business, long after the business had
closed for the day. Froning was behaving erratically, talking to himself, and
appeared to be hallucinating. While officers were speaking with Froning, he pulled
an object out of his pants pocket and threw it on the ground. Officers picked up the
object and observed that it contained LSD.
While the Mercer County case was pending, Froning was indicted in Auglaize
County for Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs, a felony of the third degree. In that
matter, he faces up to 36 months in prison and a $10,000 fine.
