On May 28, 2026, Maxwell C. Myers pled guilty to Vehicular Assault, a
felony of the fourth degree, and OVI, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Myers was
sentenced to up to five years of probation and his operator’s license was suspended
for two years.
Myers’ convictions arose from a traffic crash that occurred shortly after
midnight on April 23, 2025 near the intersection of State Route 29 and Havemann
Road. Myers, who was driving the vehicle, and his front seat passenger suffered
extensive injuries. Myers was transported to Joint Township Hospital, then Lima
Memorial Hospital for treatment. His passenger was transported by care flight to
Lutheran Hospital.
Officers obtained a search warrant for blood samples taken from Myers while
he was at Joint Township Hospital. Those samples were analyzed by the Miami
Valley Crime Lab, which found that Myers had alcohol and THC in his blood in
excess of the legal limits for operating a motor vehicle.
