March 12, 2026 (Underwood Update)

On March 4, 2026, Andrew P. Underwood was sentenced to twenty months in prison on two counts of felony theft. The charges arose from a September 23, 2025 incident, where Underwood issued checks to a Mercer County jewelry store totaling $4,879.88 for two pieces of jewelry. Underwood’s checks were returned to the business due to Underwood’s checking account having been closed. Investigative efforts revealed that Underwood later pawned the jewelry at a pawn shop in Dayton.

Underwood is alleged to have engaged in a similar scheme in surrounding counties and is facing charges in those counties.
